Welcome to Apna Study AI. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled in a safe and responsible manner. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

By using Apna Study AI, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect and How We Use It

Our App is designed to enhance your study focus and productivity using AI and advanced tools. To provide these features, we request specific device permissions. We prioritize your privacy: our core blocking features operate entirely locally on your device.

A. Device Permissions and Approvals

To function correctly, the App may request the following permissions:

• Camera & Audio (CAMERA, RECORD_AUDIO): Used specifically for scanning study materials, taking pictures for our Text Extractor (OCR), and voice-based AI interaction. Images are processed using Machine Learning.
• Storage & Media (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, READ_MEDIA_IMAGES): Used to access images from your gallery for text extraction and to save your generated content or notes locally.
• Internet Access (INTERNET): Required for fetching AI responses, communicating with our secure backend (Supabase), and loading advertisements.
• Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS, SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM): Used to send you reminders, focus completion updates, and scheduled study alerts.

B. Core Focus & Security Features (Focus Shield)

The "Focus Shield" feature helps block distracting apps so you can study without interruption. To do this, it requires sensitive permissions. This data is strictly processed locally on your device:

• Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Required to detect which application is currently running in the foreground so we can determine if it is a distracting app that needs to be blocked. We do not transmit, upload, or share your app usage history with our servers.
• Display Over Other Apps / System Alert Window (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): Required to display our blocking overlay screen on top of distracting applications when a focus session is active.
• Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE): Ensures the Focus Shield runs reliably in the background to keep you focused even when the app is minimized.
• Query All Packages (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES): Needed to retrieve the complete list of installed applications on your device so you can select which specific apps you want to block during your study sessions.

2. Secure Backend & Third-Party Services Integration

We use third-party services that may collect information used to identify you, provide secure backend infrastructure, or serve advertisements.

• Supabase: We use Supabase as our secure backend to handle user authentication (Sign Up / Log In), store user profiles, and manage any cloud-synced app data. Supabase employs industry-standard security practices to protect your data.
• Google AdMob: We use AdMob to display advertisements in the App. AdMob may collect and use your device's advertising ID and location data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. You can learn more about how Google uses data here.
• Google ML Kit: Used locally for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) features. Image processing for text extraction happens directly on your device.

These third-party service providers have their own privacy policies addressing how they use such information.

3. Data Retention and Deletion

• Cloud Data (Supabase): If you create an account, your basic profile information and synced data are stored securely on Supabase. You can request the deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
• Local Data Deletion: Because our core features (like Focus Shield history, blocked apps preferences, and local notes) save data locally to your device’s internal storage, you have complete control over this data. You can delete your Focus Shield history directly within the app, or by clearing the app's data in your Android Settings. If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data will be permanently deleted.

4. Security of Your Information

We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information, thus we strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. We use secure databases (Supabase) to store authenticated user data. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

5. Children’s Privacy

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our secure servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted.
